Overview

Naisula School will be introducing the Pearson BTEC International Level 3 (Extended Diploma) in Business and IT effective September 2021. This course is aimed at affording the learners with an enjoyable period of study, as they strive to succeed in achieving their goals and qualify in their chosen BTEC course.


BTEC COURSE

BTEC qualifications have been developed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of areas. The courses offered are practical and will give you the opportunity to complete assignments and activities based on realistic situations linked to working in a variety of related environments. It will give you a good feel for what it will be like to be at work as well as developing your communication, numeric, IT, time management and teamwork skills. There will be no formal examinations for this course.


BTEC Qualifications - What is BTEC equivalent to?

You will be assessed on the work that you undertake during your 2 years of study and will be given an overall grade at the end of the 2 years.

What skills do I need to do a BTEC course?

You will need to be hard-working, organized and self-motivated in order to be successful on this program. You will need a basic level of IT, numeric and communication skills but most of all you will need to be interested in the subject.

BTEC entry and selection criteria

To have achieved a Grade C or above in English and Mathematics and in the subject/s you wish to study or equivalent.

Assessment

BTEC courses give you credits for the work you do as you go along. The methods of assessment will vary according to the type and level of course you are on. Assessment can be through a variety of methods and will reflect what you have achieved during the course (diary notes, photographs, presentations, reports, video footage, etc.). A large proportion, if not all of the course, is internally assessed. Therefore, it is essential that you keep a portfolio of evidence of all of your achievements. This includes course work, such as; items, photographs, video footage, assignments, computer printouts, questionnaires, check lists, or projects, . The evidence will demonstrate what you have learnt and will be looked at during moderation by your assessors.

When will I get my results?

You will receive your final grade on results day in August at the end of your course.
